Ayugaeri no Taki (Waterfall)
Ayugaeri no Taki (Waterfall) is a small waterfall located upstream of the Jumanji River in Ueshi. This three-tiered waterfall can be seen against the sheer rock faces on either side, creating a spectacular sight in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Even in mid-summer, the area remains dimly lit and refreshingly cool, and it is said to have once been a place where children played in the water. It is called Ayugaeri no Taki (the waterfall where ayu fish turn back) because the ayu fish cannot climb any higher.

A smaller, three level waterfall. The steep rock surface around it goes perfectly with the beautiful nature around it. Even dark and cool in the mid-summer afternoons, it is said to have once been a swimming hole for local children. It is named “Ayugaeri no taki” because the Ayu fish cannot ascent past this point in the stream.
