Taisho Bottle Gourds
知勇と開運をもたらすとされている大将ひょうたんは、「とっとり百選」に選ばれた逸品です。羽柴秀吉の中国攻めの折、馬ノ山において、秀吉と対峙して、両軍とも戦わずして陣を解いたという知将吉川元春の縁起にちなみ、「大将ひょうたん」と名づけた縁起物です。

Wisdom, courage, and good fortune are thought to be brought by these gourds. Selected as one of Tottori’s best 100 items. When Hashiba Hideyoshi attacked China, on Mt. Umano, he saw an omen that allowed him to evade battle. This was the beginning of the term “Taisho Hyoutan”.
