Tomari pickle
Tomari pickle is a pickled whole Gengobei watermelon, a small watermelon specializing in pickles. There are two types: soy sauce tamari pickles and standard kasuzuke (Nara-zuke) pickles. They are favored for their refreshing flavor and crisp texture, making them ideal as pickles to enjoy with hot rice or as a snack with alcoholic beverages. Locally, it is marketed under the trade name Tomarizuke (Tomari pickle) and is a popular souvenir.
