Kurayoshi Yodoya
Built in 1760 (Hōreki 10), this is the oldest surviving Machiya merchant house in Kurayoshi City. The Makita family, who went by the trade name "Yodoya," was one of Kurayoshi's prominent merchant families and is said to have had close ties with the famous Osaka tycoons "Yodoya," well-known in the Yodoyabashi area. At Dairenji Temple in Kurayoshi, which is linked to the Makita family, the graves of successive generations of Yodoya Seibei are enshrined. Additionally, the Toyoda family residence hosts a daily historical storytelling event called "The Light and Shadow of Yodoya."
