Yabase Orai
The Yabase Orai is a highway that has connected Kurayoshi, the center of Hōki Province, with Yabase since the Nara period. In the past, the famous cartographer Inō Tadataka also walked this road to conduct his surveys. The route, which has remained unchanged for about 200 years, is recognized as a model area for the national "Dream Highway" initiative, evoking a sense of nostalgia with its picturesque charm. The traditions and culture of Kurayoshi, which once flourished as a commercial hub, continue to live on among the local populace.
