The former Sadogatake Oyakata (the 53rd yokozuna Kotozakura) was from Kurayoshi, and a statue was erected in his honor. He loved his hometown dearly, and participated in the annual “Sakura (cherry blossom) Sumo” event with the Sadogatake stable wrestlers, and was named an honorary citizen.
