Hōki Kokunbun-ji
This is the site of a national temple that was built in each province of Japan in 714 (Tempyo 13) at the behest of Emperor Shomu. The temple area is approximately 2.9 hectares, measuring 182 m east to west and 160 m north to south, and the remains of the main buildings include the south gate, kondo (main hall), kodo (lecture hall), and pagoda.
