Town of Good Fortune
You can encounter wooden statues of the Gods of Good Fortune throughout the old streets of Kurayoshi. Don't underestimate these wooden figures! There are many stories surrounding them, like Fukurokuju, who protected Gensui Brewery from a fire in the white-walled kura (storehouses), and the lucky tanuki (raccoon dog) said to bring good fortune for those wanting children. Whether true or not, these legends add to their charm. Feel free to touch them and take home their 'blessings' and 'smiles' as souvenirs!
