Kawamoto Family Residence
The Kawamoto residence, designated as an Important Cultural Property by the national government, was confirmed to have been built in 1688 (Jōkyō 5) through an investigation of the ridge tag during the roof rethatching in 1978 (Shōwa 53).

At that time, the head of the family was Yazaemon V, approximately 20 years after relocating to Notsu. Although the current layout has been modified to a six-room plan, it is believed to have originally followed a five-room "hiroma" configuration.
The roof is thatched with a box ridge, and the roof structure employs gasshō-style joinery. Additionally, the fire prevention feature, a "kemuri-gaeshi" made of earthen walls over the kitchen's stove, is a rare architectural element.
