Seto Kannon-ji (Temple)
This temple was built in 1713 (Shotoku period, year 3) when village headmen from Seto requested the enshrinement of a Kannon Buddha at Higashitakao Kannon-ji Temple. The "Wooden Eleven-Headed Thousand-Armed Kannon Standing Statue," which became a prefecture-designated cultural property in 1958, is thought to be a sibling Buddha to the two standing statues at Higashitakao Kannon-ji Temple that are national important cultural properties. The Sutra King Pagoda in front of the hall, called " Kyo-o-to", is a pagoda with stones buried underground. The characters of the Lotus Sutra are written one by one on each stone, and this calligraphy is said to have been done by the priest Zoroku, who was the chief priest of Jishuin.
