Yotsuzuka Tumulus Cluster
The Yotsuzuka tumulus cluster is a group of 19 circular-shaped burial mounds in Kaminagata, east of the Hiruzen Highland. The name Yotsuzuka(four mounds) comes from the fact that there were four exceptionally large burial mounds built in the 6th century. From No.13 tumuli, which was excavated in 1952, a large quantity of chicken- and house-shaped Haniwa(clay figurines) and harnesses were unearthed. You can see these and other excavated items at the Hiruzen Local Museum adjacent to the Yotsuzuka tumulus cluster.
